Last Day at RG

We missed posting last night due to poor Internet, but tonight seems better.
It was a great time to take a team photo by the completed PowerPac on Friday morning.
The connections to the rest of the solar panels were completed and the system is now complete as far as producing power.  We praise the Lord for all of the good weather that allowed us to do this project for His glory here at Restoration Gateway.

Our Line Crew continued to lay conduits in ditches where possible and pulled cables into conduits where possible.  As we finished up on Friday there was only one run that needed wire, and this will be completed on Monday by the team members who are here for the final week.

Again the D3 was the machine that pulled in the cables.  A very useful tool!

Tomorrow morning most of the team will pack up their belongings and head for Entebbe to begin the flight home.If everything goes as planned we should be home sometime Monday evening, depending on which airport each goes into.  Please pray for our safety and for on-time flights.

Today we finished up the 2 weeks of work by leaving early and heading over to the nearby National Park for some sightseeing and needed refreshment.  We visited Murcheson Falls, which is a place where the entire Nile River flowed through a cut in the rocks that is only 20' wide, for thousands of years.  This is the place where the largest amount of water flows through the narrowest channel on earth.  In 1962 the river overflowed its banks and a 2nd channel and waterfall was created that is in use today, but does tend to trickle in the dry season of the year when the rest of the Nile flows through the Devil's Cauldron.  We were blown away by the magnificent force of this river as it flows though this chasm.  God's creation is truly awesome and we will not forget the time spent here.
As always, photographs never seem to give the full story.  Many of us took videos of this which really show the force of this river.  Perhaps we can show these to you at some point.
This National Park is also a game preserve, so we were able to view some of the wildlife of Uganda en-route to the and from the falls.
We will post a photo of all of us who are leaving tomorrow at a point when we have Internet.  The rest of the team staying consists of Tom, Linda, Kevin, Miguel, Nora, Wayne, and Benjamin.  Tom will take over posting the blog once this work team heads out towards home.  We truly thank you for following us as we have seen many hits on the blog, and some of you have commented from time to time.  God is good, all the time, and He has shown Himself here in Northern Uganda.  We are anxious to see what He will accomplish in the future here at Restoration Gateway.

We will be considering further our next trip to Nundu, Democratic Republic of Congo, which begins on October 28.  There had been some concerns about the political situation there and whether the container could arrive there safely and on time.  We should know more about this after October 8, when the mission organization behind this project meets and confers with us at I-TEC.  This would be a similar trip to the one we are presently working on and yet a bit smaller.  The team size is 8 men for the Congo trip, so there will be a lot to do in the 2 weeks we have allowed for it.  We may post more about it or we will create a blog when the trip begins.
